We use a high-tech material called PCM (Phase Change Material), originally coming from space research, for completely novel cooling plates and warming elements.

The extremely slow cooling or warming of PCM is intensified by combination with porcelain or other ceramics and the temperature is evenly distributed over the surface.

Cottatherm® cooling plates

A cool combination of 2 separate parts:
1. A PCM-filled cooling base made of plastic or aluminium
2. A porcelain top.

The advantages:
The porcelain top is easy to clean, dishwasher-safe and regulates the temperature.

Freezing of the cooled goods is avoided.

The surface temperature required can be used for other applications by use of different thermally regulating elements.

This combination ensures an almost constant temperature at the plate’s surface. The plate cools down evenly and extremely slowly (a temperature of 4-10 °C for a duration of 6 hours). Freezing of the cooled items is avoided.

Cottatherm® energy ceramics

The warming unit is integrated into ceramic.
Ceramic is a simple material which is optimal for heat storage.
We recognise this effect from tiled stoves and floor tiles in our homes.
Ceramic objects are also able to transform absorbed heat energy and release it in the far infrared range. These useful basic properties have been employed and improved on by Cottatherm® in the development of its energy ceramics.

The phase change material (PCM) is integrated into ceramic and reacts within the defined temperature range.
Depending on the radiation or ambient temperature, it absorbs warmth and then gradually releases it again when the temperature decreases
